Recess Activities

The "Recess Run" is the program we use at CRES to encourage 3rd and 4th graders to run 5 laps around the track during their recess time.  (5 laps is approximately 1 mile.)  For those that choose to participate, they have a "witness" sign their mile card after running the 5 laps. Students bring their mile card to P.E. class each week and they earn one "fitness foot" for each mile that they ran.

Special rewards will be given to those that meet certain mileage milestones.

Kickball at Coastal Ridge is a non-competitive activity where kids get to work on their kicking, running, and fielding skills.  While like baseball and softball, we do not follow all of the Little League or AAU baseball/softball rules.

Kids should play to have fun, work on their skills, and practice cooperation and teamwork.

See recess kickball rules below.

Gaga Ball is a fast-paced, high-energy sport played in an octagonal pit. The more players the better! Dubbed a kinder gentler version of dodge ball, the game is played with a soft foam ball, and combines the skills of dodging, striking, running, and jumping while trying to hit opponents with a ball below the knees..
